This issue was made possible thanks to the support from Landscape Ecology Journal and also from the IUFRO Forest Landscape Ecology working Party and IALE members with support also from ECONNECT Project. The series of papers in this special issue constitute a valuable addition towards an integrated approach to conservation, by showing how a diversity of analytical approaches and data types from different regions and different systems of the world can be applied, in order to address various aspects that are at play while quantifying landscape connectivity and to support related management decisions.
