Extensive documentation of the Earth's ground cover and vegetation
An extensive database of the Earth's ground cover and vegetation in 2000 is now available on the Internet (Global Landcover 2000).
It contains data extracted from daily satellite observations made between 1 November 1999 and 31 December 2000. The database is designed to facilitate studies of ecosystems, biological diversity and climate change, and to prevent natural catastrophes.
